England is a beautiful country

We went to a wedding last weekend. On Friday we took Easyjet to Liverpool, where you get to land in John Lennon International Airport (tagline: "Above Us Only Sky"). From there we rented a car at Europcar (cheap Easyjet rates), got a Fiat Punto and drove into town. It took a while to find our bearings but once we found it, we found the main shopping street. We ate and looked around a bit before heading to where we are supposed to be.

While driving towards the M6, we drove past by Goodison Park but didn't see Anfield Road even though it's just across the park. Once on the M6 we drove north (the signs says "NORTH") all the way towards Blackburn. From there we headed towards Clitheroe, taking on smaller and smaller roads. We kept going until we hit a small village called Waddington. We stayed in a B&B there, which had a very nice pub underneath.

The next day we drove to Clitheroe and walked around a bit and then drove past Waddington to see what was around. It was amazing, it was just a country road which was getting smaller and smaller. At one point there was just green hills and animals for as far as you can see. No houses, no signs of civilisation (except the road that we're on), no noise, just green nature. Very very impressive.

The wedding was in a very small village about 10 miles from Waddington. A very nice place, a very intimate venue, almost perfectly designed for weddings. We had a really good time and to our surprise we are actually thinking of going back there to enjoy the nature.

It's hard to believe that countryside like that is still easily accessible. I have lived in big cities for way way too long.
